Registered Dietitian

Medical and Surgical Weight Management

We are growing and we currently have a need for a part time Registered Dietitian to join our Medical Weight Management team!

We are seeking a passionate Registered Dietitian who is a self-starter and works well in a collaborative team environment.  Primary responsibilities will be to perform a variety of duties, some of which include the evaluation and assessment of nutritional needs of our patients, development of individualized plans, monitoring progress and providing support, education and coaching of our weight management patients.  Candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and experience working with a team.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Assesses client medical history, including nutritional status, diet history, and food habits. Conducts individual sessions to discuss patient’s nutritional needs and determine risk factors.  Confers with physician and other clinicians as appropriate on effect of nutritional status.

  1. Develops nutritional plan for patient, presents information to patient/family individually about implementing nutrition plan including recommendations for special diets and diet techniques to ensure proper preparation and nutritional intake.
  2. Documents dietary assessment/plan summary for medical record.
  3. Conducts patient education programs for weight reduction, cultural preferences, and special-need diets for certain health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Teaches correct food preparation and safe food handling. Conducts nutritional health education programs for staff.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food service, or community health. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum three years of clinical experience as dietitian. Two years of experience in health setting as dietitian/patient educator preferred.

Other Requirements: Registered dietitian as certified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Patient Care Technician – Part Time

 

NorthStar Medical specializes in Sleep Medicine, Medical Weight Management and pulmonary rehabilitation. Our team is growing and we currently have a need for a full time Patient Care Technician demonstrating compassion, respect and caring while working with our patients.

Primary responsibility will be rooming patients for our five providers, process directives, maintain records for all three specialties and various other duties. We’re looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced environment and can move quickly from one patient to the next while staying on schedule and being pleasant and friendly.

Requirements for this position include excellent customer service skills and an exceptional level of professionalism, organization and friendliness. Medical office experience and/or medical terminology are preferred, however we will train the right candidate. You must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task with ease. Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Medical and Surgical Weight Management

We are growing! We currently have a need for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for our Medical/Surgical Weight Management department.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Counsel patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
  • Collaborate with our Bariatric Medical Director and other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Plan, organize and lead structured programs of counseling, work, recreation and social activities for patients.
  • Help guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their behaviors and relationship related with food.
  • Provide weight loss surgical patients with preoperative and postoperative counseling and behavior modification.

Candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a strong empathy for patients facing with issues of morbid obesity.  Qualified candidate must have a degree from an accredited psychology program, a valid Washington State license and a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
